Rockville, Md. (DG) – Police in Montgomery County say a Silver Spring man is behind bars after allegedly assaulting and attempting to rape a woman early Friday morning.
Investigators say 25-year-old Jerrell Fullwood attacked a woman as she was walking to a bus stop around 5:30 a.m. in the 9800 block of Medical Center Drive. Officers responding to the scene quickly obtained a description of the suspect and found him moments later-riding on a nearby bus.
Fullwood was taken into custody without incident. Detectives later reviewed surveillance footage showing him following the victim just before the assault.
He’s now charged with attempted first-degree rape and first-degree assault, and remains held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit awaiting a bond hearing.
