Chambersburg, Pa. (DG) – An 18-year-old soldier who died during a training incident at Letterkenny Army Depot has been identified as Private First Class Krystofer Lopez of Biglerville, Pennsylvania.
Officials say the incident happened Thursday at the Franklin County installation. Lopez was serving as a military police officer with the depot’s Emergency Services Law Enforcement Division and was assigned to the 947th Quartermaster Company as part of the Army’s Personnel Force Innovation program.
He later died from his injuries after being taken to the hospital. Following his death, Lopez was posthumously promoted to the rank of specialist in recognition of his service.
The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division is now investigating exactly what led to the training incident.
