Gaithersburg, MD (JK) – Montgomery County police have charged a Silver Spring man in connection with a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred last summer.
26-year old Oscar Pedrozo faces criminally negligent homicide charges following an investigation by the department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit.
The crash took place on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, around 10:40 a.m. near Connecticut Avenue and Plyers Mill Road. Authorities say Pedrozo was driving a U.S. Postal Service van, leaving a nearby gas station and attempting to turn northbound onto Connecticut Avenue when he struck 64-year-old Mairi Nicola Morrison of Garrett Park, who had entered the driveway apron while walking along the sidewalk.
Morrison was transported to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Police say Pedrozo was wearing earbuds and listening to music at the time. The van reportedly continued moving forward and then reversed while Morrison was still underneath.
Pedrozo turned himself in on Wednesday, March 25, and has since been released on bond. The case remains under investigation by Montgomery County police.
