Frederick, Md. (DG) – A Middletown man will spend the next 16 years behind bars after violating his probation tied to serious sex offenses involving a minor. In Frederick County Circuit Court Friday, 48-year-old Eric Diaz was sentenced to serve the full 16 years of back-up time in the Division of Corrections.
Diaz was originally on probation for convictions including sexual solicitation of a minor, two counts of telephone misuse for obscene purposes, and failure to comply with the sex offender registry. Authorities say he violated that probation after being convicted in Pennsylvania of six counts of possession of child sexual abuse material.
Court records show Diaz’s history dates back to 2011, when he was convicted in Pennsylvania of sexual abuse of a minor. In 2014, while on supervised probation and listed on the sex offender registry, he contacted a 14-year-old victim through Facebook, sending explicit images and videos and attempting to solicit sexual activity.
Those latest Pennsylvania convictions ultimately triggered the violation that led to Friday’s 16-year sentence.
