Germantown, Md. (DG) – A Germantown man is in custody after police say he opened fire on officers in Montgomery Village.
The incident happened Tuesday, March 24th, as Montgomery County Police were patrolling Contour Road in response to community complaints about crime, including assaults, robberies, and drug activity. Just before 5 PM, officers spotted a known drug user in a parking lot, then saw 27-year-old Andre Duvall approach. When Duvall noticed a marked cruiser, he walked away and crossed the street.
As officers tried to stop him, he ran into an apartment complex. Police say Duvall then fired multiple shots at an officer, who returned fire and struck him. Duvall suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was treated and released, and is now charged with attempted first-degree murder and other offenses.
No officers or bystanders were hurt, and a handgun was recovered.
