Frederick, Md. (DG) – Federal leaders are bringing millions of dollars back to Frederick County, with a focus on improving life for both young people and seniors. On Wednesday, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen and Congresswoman April McClain Delaney visited Frederick to highlight four million dollars in Congressionally Directed Spending for fiscal year 2026.
A big portion of that funding-one million dollars-will go toward redeveloping the Taney Avenue Senior Center, a more than 50-year-old facility. The upgrades are expected to expand services for older residents and add affordable housing on-site.
The remaining three million dollars is headed to the Frederick Youth Center, where renovations will include new security systems, gym equipment, technology, furniture, and other improvements. Leaders say the goal is to create a safer, more modern, and engaging space for local youth.
