We have one hell of a college football weekend on our hands, folks.
If you haven’t done so already, open up another tab and take a quick look at the slate for this Saturday.
I’m sure your eyes will be drawn to plenty of action in the SEC, as the league has two of the more intriguing match-ups in terms of national relevance.
The number one team in the land, Texas, will travel to Knoxville to take on a dangerous looking Tennessee team, while the team with perhaps the best resume in the country, Ole Miss, takes a trip to The Swamp to play the Gators.
My point is that Saturday will feature wall-to-wall action and could end up being one of the best weekend slates of the season.
But one game that isn’t getting the shine it deserves is taking place in the Big 12.
It doesn’t feature a ranked-on-ranked match-up, and is occurring at the same time that LSU and Texas A&M are set to square off, but the showdown between Oklahoma State and West Virginia will be must see television.

For starters, both teams have a ranked win on their resume, something many programs around the country can’t say they have, as the Mountaineers took down a top-25 Virginia squad while the Cowboys toppled mighty Oregon in week two.
The match-up will feature a couple of great coaches on opposite ends of the spectrum, both stylistically and in terms of where they are in their career.

Oklahoma State has Eric Morris roaming their sidelines, and if you’ve been paying attention to me at all in the past year, you know how much I like this guy.
Morris, the young up and comer, is an air raid disciple, and it shows in his team’s offensive splits.
The Cowboys rank top ten in total offense and have the best passing offense in the Big 12 thanks to Morris’ system and quarterback extraordinaire Drew Mestemaker.
On the other side you have Rich Rodriguez, and if that name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s on his second tour in Morgantown.
His first go around as West Virginia’s head coach was wildly successful, featuring plenty of explosive offenses and BCS Bowl victories, and it looks like he’s picked up right where he left off.
The Mountaineers have one of the best rushing offenses in the country, ranking in the top three nationally in rush yards per game.
This game will be an explosive one when either offense is on the field, as the scoreboard operator better hope he’s up for the challenge.
The stakes will be plenty high as well, because the winner of this game will have an early inside track on making it to the Big 12 title game and potentially upsetting Texas Tech en route to a College Football Playoff berth.
You will want to be tuned in when these two square off in the Mountain State.
If it’s not the main game on your TV, I implore you to at least go picture-and-picture or just go buy a second monitor (they’re cheap these days).
Don’t let the fancy numbers next to teams like LSU and Texas A&M distract you from the fact that this could be the most entertaining game of the weekend.
Miss it at your own peril, and don’t say I didn’t warn you.
