PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Two attorneys for the lone holdout juror in the mistrial of Massachusetts woman Lindsay Clancy in the strangling deaths of her three young children say they plan to file a bar complaint against the 36-year-old’s defense lawyer over his treatment of their client.
“I can tell you, we’re gonna file a bar complaint,” attorney Tyler Cox told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on his namesake show Tuesday evening.
Kevin Reddington, a veteran Massachusetts defense lawyer, said in court Tuesday that he was fed up with being accused of “persecuting” the holdout, who was the only man on the 12-person jury who wanted to find Clancy guilty.

“He said that all he’s done is file a motion,” Cox said. “Well, even if you take that as true, which it obviously isn’t, the motion that he filed was unprecedented. You don’t attack jurors this way, you don’t single them out, and we’re going to file a bar complaint.”
Plymouth County prosecutors have separately asked the court for a gag order, accusing Reddington of helping expose the holdout’s identity to the public, accusing him of robbing the other jurors of their time and of robbing Clancy of an acquittal.

“In the same instances, defense counsel praised the foreperson as courageous and the jurors, minus one, were so attentive, so beautiful, so wonderful,” assistant Plymouth County District Attorneys Jennifer Sprague and Shanan Buckingham wrote.

“Under the caselaw and ethical rules, limitations on lawyers’ speech is aimed at two principal evils: comments that are likely to influence the actual outcome of the trial and comments that are likely to prejudice the jury venire,” they added.

Reddington has also taken to calling the holdout juror “the obstructionist” and spent the early part of the week trading barbs with another attorney for the juror, Edward Paltzik.

Clancy is due back in court on Nov. 2 for a motion hearing. Timing for a potential retrial remains unclear, and no date has been set after both sides told Judge William Sullivan they needed more time.
