“Sicario” updates continue to roll in.
There has been serious buzz recently about the film series focused on the United States conducting covert actions against drug cartels.
The first film – “Sicario” – was created by Taylor Sheridan and released in 2015. Denis Villeneuve directed.

A second film came out in 2018, and it’s now been confirmed a third movie is happening. However, information is starting to get a bit murky.
Variety recently reported that Sheridan had already written the script for the untitled third “Sicario” film. Fans were extremely excited by the news.
However, a new report indicates that might not actually be the case. Deadline reported that Steven Knight is writing the script and Padraic McKinley will direct. Shooting is expected to start in 2027.
Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin are all returning, according to the same report. Brolin and del Toro were in both of the first two films.

Blunt only appeared in the first one.
It’s hard to believe Sheridan won’t be involved in some capacity, especially considering that “Sicario” laid the foundation for him to become the most influential person in entertainment.
Would he really let someone else make all the decisions? Possibly, but Sheridan is famously focused on perfection and crafting a compelling story.
The fact that there are competing reports is at a minimum an odd situation.
What I will say is both movies are 100% worth watching, and the first one is a masterpiece. Hopefully, “Sicario 3” lives up to what will be incredibly high expectations. Let me know your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
