Welcome to Screencaps, “America’s Best Daily Column,” as named by the readers. Screencaps, which publishes seven-days-a-week, is a mix of sports, pop culture, and emails from sane readers from around the world. This column isn’t for the coastal elites. Give us a week to steal your heart. Our track record is pretty good. Let’s have some fun.
Meet Kylie Beck. She’s a first-year Dolphins cheerleader with big dreams of making it in the world of NFL cheerleading. “When I go to write this caption, I am beyond speechless at the fact that I get to say I am a MIAMI DOLPHINS CHEERLEADER!” she wrote on Instagram in June.
Meanwhile, at the same time, her brother, Carson Beck, was preparing for his rookie season with the Arizona Cardinals.
We’ve officially entered unchartered NFL waters, folks. I’ve been at this job going on 19 years and just when I don’t think there could be any new firsts, along come the Becks. The Dolphins and Cardinals don’t meet this year, so mom and dad won’t have to worry about living through the stress that the Kelces and the Mannings have gone through over the years.

This poll was requested by Canoe Kirk from my text group. Years ago, when we moved into our neighborhood, it was extremely rare to see yards with political signs. People seemed to have an unwritten rule that we were all going to avoid the signs. Vote for whomever you’d like.
Now? Yep, there are more and more signs creeping in by the election cycle. And Ukrainian flags.
I’m proud to report that our yard has never had an election sign planted out front.
Lee D. in Tampa sent this one and said to turn up the volume. The only bad news is that the Dodgers are in the NLCS and +120 to win the World Series.
Payrolls remaining in MLB playoffs:
• Dodgers – $339,319,244
• Brewers – $146,206,320
• White Sox – $103,330,141
• Rays – $95.6 million
• Indians – $74,459,014
– Travel Ball Hardo Chris B. in Houston says if this is real, “it’s great”:
Kinsey: It is great and it’s exactly what I’ve called on schools to implement instead of this stupid email harvesting operation they’ve done where kids are incentivized to gather emails from family and friends in exchange for rewards. Then, some shadow company takes those email lists and uses them (for profit, of course) however they’d like.
If this is real, great job to the Saline, MI middle school PTO.
My buddy Canoe Kirk had something valued to the tune of $28k dropped at his door Tuesday. He was not pleased that it didn’t require a signature.
– Chris B. emails: I’m m guessing this was an LTL shipment if you’re subtracting the normal delivery companies. I’ve been in this industry for the past several years and recently this is how home deliveries are being done to avoid the problem with the new extra charges the shipper receives such as inside deliveries and/or redelivery charges.
Also, it helps keep terminals from getting too much clutter on their docks and/or from just being stuck in a trailer. Wild to me though that something that expensive would just be dropped off with porch pirates out there. I would have thought a signature for sure would be needed, but unless the shipper put specific directions in a signature is needed or in their tariff, it would just go through the system as a normal home delivery.
Kinsey: It wasn’t LTL.
– Guy G. in western New York checks in on two topics: Morning Joe! I bought a $25k tractor last year, and had the dealer drop it off, without calling to tell me it was on it’s way. I showed up at the house, and there it was. Not that anyone would have been able to see it on the property, but keys were there if some scummy Amazon driver decided he needed a new tractor.
For the begging, it is absolutely out of control. I sell a blower that runs about $17k. Cool unit. Stand on, powerful…A YouTuber in MN asked this morning to have one sent to his house. He’ll keep the machine, and put up 3 ~5 min videos.
‘Outdoors With The Morgans’ have purchased 2 of our units, never told us who they were, and feature our equipment multiple times a year. Never even asked for a discount!
– Anonymous (relax if you’re ATF, I’m told this was a one-off and the emailer called you guys after the incident): I have one for items requiring a signature…a handgun was once left on my front porch. Won’t name the delivery company, but as a FFL holder, this was a huge problem. The driver even faced “Glock” on the box out towards the road. Not to mention he was supposed to get my signature for it, but leaving it like that was a complete violation of his company’s & federal law.
– Dean in Fond du Lac, WI has gone through this, but not with five-figure items: Back on Saturday, September 26, I was expecting a new iPad to be delivered by Amazon. Originally, it was to be delivered in the mid-day but then it got rescheduled to later that day. My Amazon order instructions were that it had to be signed for, which made sense consi dering the item and its cost. BTW, I had never had an item that I had to sign for from Amazon before, so I was expecting to use a stylus to sign for it on an electronic device like UPS or FEDEX.
My iPad show s up at 8:15 pm. The strange experience that I had with this delivery was the Amazon delivery guy didn’t speak a word of English! He clearly was Hispanic and I don’t know if he had been in our coun try for a while or was an invitee of the Biden Administration at the Southern Border. Anyway, the guy had two smartphones, one for me to “sign” for the delivery and the one that had his live Spanish to English “translator” on the phone line!

On top of this, his Amazon smartphone that I was supposed to sign on for the delivery was totally in Spanish and it didn’t have a line to put my signature on. I asked him where I was supposed to sign and he didn’t understand anything that I said . His translator, which sounded like a Hispanic woman, was someone that I couldn’t understand a word of English either with her heavily Spanish accented voice . I checked my Amazon order and a 6-digit code had appeared in the delivery instructions ( I hadn’t seen this code when I had checked it earlier in the day for expected delivery time). I figured out that is what he said that he needed and plugged it into his Amazon phone with the Spanish instructions.
After the delivery, on my Amazon app, Amazon had a place for me to fill out a survey about the delivery but no where could I tell them that they needed to hire de livery people who could speak English or at least had their “signature” smartphone instructions be in English. The delivery guy drove off into the night and I shudder when I think that he can’t read our road signs …

That is it this morning as a hurricane barrels towards the Gulf cities and SEC football games. Let’s get this day rolling. Remember, it’s Bucs-Cowboys tonight on Amazon. Yep, I already saw Herbstreit take his dog on the private jet to Dallas.
Have a great day.
