INTRO: Law enforcement announcing a major corruption indictment in Norfolk, Virginia Thursday morning against Virginia State Senator Lillie Louise Lucas (D) and six other defendants. The Justice Department announcing they are charging Lucas with running a criminal enterprise in order to enrich herself and members of her family. TAG: Officials say Lucas and the other defendants, including members of her family, face multiple charges including money laundering and marijuana distribution. Lucas was elected to Virginia’s state senate in 19-91, and served as president pro tempore since 20-20. In a response to the charges, Lucas said “I will not be intimidated, I will not be bullied, and I will not back down.”
