Mother Charged In Death Of Her Three-Month-Old Daughter

She is charged with 1st-degree murder.Gaithersburg, Md (KM) A three-month-old baby girl is dead, and her mother is charged.  Montgomery County Police say  on Sunday, they  arrested Mackenzie Rose Colgan, 37, and charged her with 1st-degree murder.Early in the afternoon, fire and rescue were called to a home in the 7300 block of Summit Avenue in Chevy Chase. Authorities say Colgan called 911 to say she had drown her baby daughter while giving the child a bath. The baby was rushed to a local hospital.  Lifesaving measures were administered, but the infant was pronounced dead.The body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.Detectives with the Major Crimes Division responded, and identified Colgan as the suspect. She was taken to the Central Processing Unit where she is awaiting a bond hearing.By Kevin McManus
