Community Foundation Awards Impact Grants to 48 Non-Profit Organizations

The amount totals over $353,000.Frederick, Md. (KM) The Community Foundation of Frederick County has awarded at total of $353,479.95 to 48 non-profits in the  area. The  agency says these grants support projects and initiatives which improve and enhance the lives of Frederick County residents.”It is a big deal. And in fact, this is the second discretionary grant cycle the Community Foundation has every year,”: says Betsy Day, the President and CEO of the Community Foundation.She says these grants are  awarded to non-profits which provide direct services to their clients. “And some of the grants go to support health and human service, the arts, animal well being, ag in the classroom, all kinds of different programs,” says Day.Non-profits which received these grants made application sometime between August 15th and September 15th of this year. As with any grant program, Day says there’s often a lot of applications, but not enough funds to go around. “There’s always more requests then there are fund available,” she says. “While it’s frustrating, it’s also fulfilling to know that more people are supporting financially our various  funds and our fundraising and grant making efforts.”The non profits which received Impact Grants this year from the Community  Foundation are:The AG-C.I.T.E. Barnhart Memorial Fund:$22,646.36 to Asian American Center of Frederick for The William E. Barnhart Memorial Fund cancer assistance project.$11,460.00 to Brook Hill United Methodist Church for medical care for two individuals in need.The Brunswick Area Fund:$2,585.92 to SHIP of Frederick County to support Brunswick youth enrolled in the New Horizons program.The Major Dan Campbell Veteran Services Fund:$760.57 to Mission of Mercy, Inc. for medical and dental care for veterans in Maryland.The Lewis I. and Catherine L.
