Bond Denied For Frederick Man Charged With Injuring A Montgomery County Police Officer

The officer was struck while laying stop sticks on I-270.Rockville, Md (KM) A Frederick man charged with critically injuring a Montgomery County Police Officer will remain behind bars. A District Court Judge on Thursday ordered Raphael Mayorga. 19, to continue to be held without bond.Mayorga was arrested early Wednesday morning after his vehicle struck Sergeant Patrick Kepp along northbound Interstate 270.   Police say Sergeant Kepp was laying down stop sticks along the highway in the Watkins Mill area to stop Mayorga who was traveling at 110 miles per hour by deflating the fires on his car.Sergeant Kepp was medivaced to Shock Trauma.  Police Chief Marcus Jones say Kepp lost the use of both of his legs.Mayorga is charged with attempted 1st-degree murder, and 1st-degree assault. Chief Jones says Mayorga “deliberately” struck Sergeant Kepp with his car.By Kevin McManus
