Baltimore, Md. (DG) – A Frederick man has appeared in federal court on Friday after being charged in connection with flying a drone over a highly secure U.S. military installation known as the Raven Rock Mountain Complex, a government facility straddling Pennsylvania and Maryland. Authorities say 66-year-old Stuart Bennett posted multiple videos online in 2025 showing aerial footage of restricted national defense sites captured from his drone and uploaded to a YouTube channel that showcased what were described as secret locations.
Federal investigators, including the FBI and Naval Criminal Investigative Service, traced the videos back to Bennett, removed the content from the platform, and executed a search warrant at his home in late September, seizing his drone, computer and storage cards containing additional recordings. Court filings allege Bennett flew within restricted airspace without a drone license and conducted searches for directions to the military complex and nearby defense facilities before his arrest. He has been released pending trial on national defense airspace violations.
