More Than 330 Pounds Of Medications Dropped Off During Recent Drug Take Back Day

The Health Department over 9,000 needles were dropped off.Frederick, Md (KM) During the drug take back day on Saturday, October 25th, the Frederick County Health Department says 184 residents dropped off the more than 330 pounds of unwanted or expired medications. and over 9,000 needles. That’s the total from two locations in the county.:”A huge thank you to the Frederick Police Department, Maryland State Police and the DEA for helping staff the event,” said Nate Smith, the Health Department’s Opioid Misuse Prevention Program Coordinator. “Most of all, we thank our community for coming out on a beautiful Saturday to get rid of unwanted medications which keeps our community clean and safe.”For those who were unable to participate in the recent drug take back day, the Health Department says there are locations which take unwanted and expired medications year round.   Go to the Health Department’s website to find the nearest locations.The Drug Take Back Day was sponsored by the Health Department, the Frederick Police, the Maryland State Police and US Drug Enforcement Administration.By Kevin McManus
