Westminster, MD (JK) – A routine traffic stop in Westminster resulted in the arrest of a Baltimore County man on multiple firearms charges.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Pro-Active Community Enforcement (PACE) Team were conducting traffic enforcement around 11:39 a.m. on Friday, February 27, along Baltimore Boulevard when they observed a Nissan Sentra commit a traffic violation. Deputies initiated a lawful stop near the intersection of Baltimore Boulevard and Bethel Road.
During the stop, a front seat passenger was identified as 25-year-old Tyler King of Halethorpe. Authorities conducted a K-9 scan of the vehicle, and the dog alerted to the odor of a controlled dangerous substance, establishing probable cause for a search.
Deputies say that during the search of the vehicle and its occupants, they recovered a loaded .45 caliber Ruger pistol with an obliterated serial number that was in King’s possession. The firearm was secured as evidence.
King was arrested and transported to Carroll County Central Booking, where he was charged with multiple firearms-related offenses.
