Belleview, FL (JK) – Authorities say a Hagerstown man wanted for involuntary manslaughter and multiple other charges has been arrested in Florida after being on the run for more than four years.
The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies took 56-year-old Darien Revwell Ford into custody on a Maryland warrant. Court records show Ford was indicted in January 2022 for an alleged involuntary manslaughter incident that occurred in September 2021. He also faces charges of reckless endangerment and nearly a dozen drug-related offenses. A separate warrant was issued in 2023 after Ford failed to appear for a scheduled jury trial.
Deputies say they were called Sunday evening regarding a “suspicious person” dangerously close to a roadway near the 10900 block of US 441 in Belleview, Florida. He was creating a hazard for passing motorists. Ford reportedly tried to give a false name, but authorities confirmed his identity and arrested him.
Ford is now being held without bond in the Alachua County Jail and awaits extradition back to Maryland.
This arrest follows years of efforts to locate Ford, who had been the subject of a missing persons alert issued by the Hagerstown Police Department in 2021.
