Frederick, Md. (DG) – A wave of phone and text scams is hitting the Frederick region, with residents being targeted by callers posing as law enforcement.
The Frederick Police Department says scammers claim people missed federal court or have warrants, then demand payment for bail. Authorities warn this is fraudulent.
Police will never contact someone to demand money for legal issues. Residents are urged not to share personal information, avoid sending funds, and report any suspicious calls or messages to local law enforcement.
