Hagerstown, MD (JK) – A road improvement effort throughout the city of Hagerstown is about to begin as crews prepare to launch the spring 2026 pavement preservation program.
Starting the week of March 23rd, initial pavement patching will begin at various locations throughout the city. That work will be followed by milling and repaving projects on portions of approximately 20 streets.
While no road closures are currently planned, motorists should expect lane shifts, flagging operations, and possible delays near active work zones. Drivers are encouraged to use caution and allow extra travel time when passing through affected areas.
The paving program is expected to continue throughout the spring, with additional updates to be issued as specific streets are scheduled for work.
City officials say emergency vehicles will be able to access roads during construction. If temporary closures become necessary, advance notice will be provided.
Anyone with questions about the project can contact the City’s Department of Engineering and Permits at 301-739-8577, extension 125.
