Gaithersburg, MD (JK) – A Silver Spring dentist has been charged with multiple sex offenses following an investigation by the Montgomery County Department of Police Special Victims Investigations Division.
Authorities say the case began on March 2, 2026, when an adult woman reported that her dentist, 35-year-old Dr. Ermias Semaie, sexually assaulted her on two separate occasions during procedures. According to investigators, the incidents allegedly occurred when no hygienist was present in the room.
Detectives say they were able to corroborate the victim’s allegations during the course of their investigation.
Further investigation revealed a prior complaint against Semaie in 2018 that was reported to the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners. At that time, his license was temporarily suspended, and he was placed on probation. No criminal charges were filed in that earlier case.
Based on both the prior report and the current allegations, investigators believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Semaie with multiple counts of fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault. He was arrested on March 19, 2026, and later released on bond.
Police are asking anyone who believes they may have been a victim, or who has information related to the case, to contact the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5050.
