NORTHERN FREDERICK COUNTY, MD (JK) – Motorists on Route 77 will soon see traffic returning to the Rocky Ridge Road bridge over Beaver Branch and under the Maryland Midland Railroad, with the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) planning a reopening as early as March 25. The reopening comes about a month earlier than originally planned.
The bridge, originally constructed in 1928, was closed to traffic on September 29, 2025, to allow for a full replacement. The $7.1 million project involved removing the old structure and building a new bridge, with final landscaping work still in progress. Brawner Builders, Inc., based in Hunt Valley, served as the primary contractor on the project.
MDOT SHA reminds drivers and pedestrians to remain alert and obey posted speed limits when traveling through work zones. Roadside assistance is available by dialing #77 on mobile devices.
