Westminster, Md. (DG) – A Baltimore woman will spend years behind bars after a deadly crash in Carroll County that happened while she was driving drunk. Officials say 32-year-old Lydia Hanson was sentenced April first after being convicted of automobile manslaughter in a crash that killed 78-year-old Richard Snyder of Westminster.
Investigators say the crash happened March 16th, 2025, along Route 97, when Hanson crossed the center line and hit Snyder’s truck head-on. Authorities say she was driving nearly 100 miles per hour and had a blood alcohol level four times the legal limit.
Prosecutors say the crash came just one day after Hanson had already been stopped for DUI. She is now sentenced to nine years in prison, with additional time suspended and probation to follow.
