Frederick, MD (JK) – A local educator is being recognized for his impact in the classroom and beyond.
Dr. Kyler Leiter, a Pre-K teacher at Carroll Manor Elementary School, has been named the 2026-27 Charles E. Tressler Distinguished Teacher Award recipient by Frederick County Public Schools. The award honors teachers who make a lasting difference in students’ lives.
Leiter, now in his fourth year at Carroll Manor, has served as a team leader, mentor, and curriculum contributor. He holds a doctorate from Notre Dame of Maryland University and also teaches at Mount St. Mary’s University.
Outside the classroom, he’s coached youth wrestling and worked as a child advocate in Frederick County.
The award is sponsored by Hood College and highlights excellence in teaching and community involvement.
