Walk To End Alzheimer’s In Frederick Scheduled For October 9

(NS) – Funds are being raised in Frederick to combat a disease that has impacted many families.David McShea, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Maryland, said the disease is debilitating.”Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia. Essentially, plaques and tangles build up in the brain which robs people with Alzheimer’s the ability to have memory, eventually could lead to their inability to do simple things like chewing, breathing, and ultimately, there is no cure,” said McShea.Marilyn Herbert, Development Manager of the Association, said an upcoming walk will raise money to help families impacted by Alzheimer’s.”The funds raised, about 80%, almost, go to direct care, advocacy, support services, such as a 24-7 hotline, and support groups.
