Frederick, Md. (DG) – Fort Detrick is preparing for a major emergency response drill this week.
Officials say a full-scale exercise is scheduled for April 29th to test how well crews respond to and recover from critical situations. During the exercise, employees and visitors may notice a heavier presence of first responders across the installation. Leaders say the goal is to simulate real-world conditions and evaluate planning and response procedures in action.
These drills are designed to uncover any gaps and fix potential issues before a real emergency happens. In the past, similar exercises have included scenarios like chemical spills from highway accidents, tornado damage, and even active shooter situations.
