An investigation is underway after a church construction project in Hagerstown partially collapsed, sending two workers to the hospital.
According to the Hagerstown Fire Department, crews responded shortly after 2:30 Tuesday afternoon to the Hagerstown First Church of God, where an addition was under construction. Officials say roof trusses had just been installed when workers heard the building cracking.
Crews tried to evacuate before the structure collapsed, trapping two people inside. Firefighters rescued both workers within minutes, and both suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Another worker was treated on scene and refused transport to the hospital. State safety investigators are now looking into what led to the collapse.
