An investigation into a weekend house fire in Washington County has led to the arrest of a 25-year-old Knoxville man.
Authorities say Austin David Brown intentionally set fire to his home on Kaetzel Road late Saturday night before leaving the scene. Fire Marshals determined the fire was deliberately started and later received security footage and witness information linking Brown to the incident. On Monday, investigators learned Brown had returned to the area and located him on Weverton Road.
Brown ran into a wooded area, prompting a search involving State Police Aviation, K9 units, and local deputies. After about 40 minutes, he surrendered without incident. Brown is charged with first-degree arson, malicious burning, destruction of property, and animal cruelty.
He is being held without bond.
