Frederick, MD (JK) – Early voting begins Thursday, June 11, for Maryland’s 2026 gubernatorial primary election, with Frederick County voters able to cast ballots at any of five early voting centers through June 18. Polls will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., including the weekend.
The five Frederick County early voting locations are:
Trinity Recreation Center, 6040 New Design Road, Frederick
Urbana Regional Library, 9020 Amelung Street, Urbana
Thurmont Regional Library, 76 East Moser Road, Thurmont
Middletown Volunteer Fire Department Activities Building, 1 Fireman’s Lane, Middletown
Libertytown Volunteer Fire Department Activities Building, 12027 South Street, Libertytown
Election officials say voters who are not registered can register and vote during early voting, and registered voters who have moved can update their address by providing a document proving their residence. However, voters cannot change their political party affiliation during early voting.
The primary election will be held Tuesday, June 23. Maryland’s primary system allows Democratic and Republican voters to participate in their respective party’s primary contests, while all registered voters may participate in nonpartisan school board races.
The election follows a statewide mail-in ballot printing error that caused some voters to receive ballots with incorrect party information. Replacement ballots were mailed to affected voters, and election officials say voters should use the replacement ballot marked “REPLACEMENT BALLOT INSIDE” and follow the instructions included with it.
Frederick County voters will decide races for governor, comptroller, attorney general, congressional seats, the General Assembly, local offices, the Board of Education, sheriff, and other county positions before the November general election.
