Martinsburg, WV (JK) – A Berkeley County man has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison after a drug trafficking investigation led authorities to an active clandestine laboratory at his home.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 34-year-old Joseph Paul Boyer of Gerrardstown was sentenced to 168 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh.
Investigators determined Boyer was selling large quantities of methamphetamine from his residence. A search warrant executed at the home resulted in the seizure of approximately 85 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana plants, syringes, digital scales, and other drug paraphernalia.
During an additional search of the property, officers found an active drug laboratory in the garage and seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, ketamine, and cocaine base.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher. The investigation was conducted by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration, with assistance from the Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The case was part of the Department of Justice’s Operation Take Back America initiative targeting drug trafficking organizations and violent crime.
