Gaithersburg, MD (JK) – A 58-year-old Silver Spring man has been arrested on rape and assault charges, and Montgomery County Police believe there may be additional victims.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police Special Victims Investigations Division, officers responded to a Silver Spring residence on May 6 after an adult woman reported she had been sexually assaulted the previous day.
Investigators say the woman had enrolled in a course at Fenote Training Academy, located at 8115 Fenton Street. She told police that when she arrived, 58-year-old Melesse Semegne, president, CEO and lead instructor, was the only person inside the business and allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Detectives executed a search warrant at the business on May 14 and recovered items of evidentiary value.
Semegne turned himself in on June 14 and is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
He is charged with second-degree rape, attempted second-degree rape, two counts of second-degree assault and a fourth-degree sex offense.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims. Anyone who had contact with Semegne is asked to contact the Montgomery County Police Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Solvers of Montgomery County.
