Gaithersburg, MD (JK) – A 28-year-old Silver Spring man died following a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Montgomery County.
According to Montgomery County Police, officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded around 4:39 a.m. to the 11800 block of New Hampshire Avenue after receiving reports of a crash.
The preliminary investigation found that John William Stacey was driving a gray 2010 Mercedes northbound on New Hampshire Avenue when the vehicle struck a median curb near Tracey Drive, left the roadway and hit a tree. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Stacey was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation, which officials say could take several weeks or months to complete.
