Leesburg, VA (JK) – Student suspensions and behavior violations have increased significantly in Loudoun County Public Schools over the past four years, according to preliminary data presented to the School Board’s Performance Monitoring Committee.
Suspensions rose 56 percent, from 1,201 in the 2022-23 school year to 1,875 in 2025-26. Behavior violations increased 31 percent, from 19,943 to 26,243.
High school students accounted for the most suspensions over the four-year period, while middle school students had the highest number of behavior violations.
The increases occurred despite declining enrollment in the roughly 80,000-student school division. Officials said the latest numbers are preliminary and could change before being reported to the Virginia Department of Education.
LCPS is responding with expanded behavioral support efforts, including additional resource teachers, stronger parent communication, teacher coaching, and restorative practices. The district added 13 behavior resource teachers last year and plans to expand coverage to 28 elementary schools this coming school year.
