Gaithersburg, MD (JK) – A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an attempted first-degree murder at a Silver Spring restaurant last month.
Montgomery County police say Mark Reginald Melton entered the men’s restroom at The Angry Jerk in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue at about 10:34 p.m. on July 10 and stabbed a man multiple times.
The injured party suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
Detectives reviewed surveillance video and developed a description of the suspect. Investigators later identified Melton, who has no fixed address, and obtained an arrest warrant charging him with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and related offenses.
Melton was arrested in Washington, D.C., by the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Task Force. He was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
