Owners of historic properties in unincorporated Frederick County will soon be able to apply for up to 50-thousand dollars in preservation funding.
The Rural Historic Preservation Grant Program opens September first, with applications accepted through November 30th at 11:59 p.m. The competitive grants can help pay for exterior work to stabilize, rehabilitate, restore or preserve historic buildings. Eligible properties must be listed on the County Register of Historic Places or located within a County-designated historic district and be in good standing with the County.
Properties not yet designated may need an eligibility determination from the Historic Preservation Commission before applying. The County will also hold informational workshops in September and October to help applicants with the process. Grant awards are expected to be announced in early spring 2027.
