The Town of Emmitsburg has been awarded a $2.779 million USDA loan to replace a critical water line along Main Street.
The funding was announced by U.S. Senators Van Hollen, Alsobrooks and Congresswoman McClain Delaney.
The other awards include a $465,000 grant for the Town of Luke in Allegany County to replace its sewer collection system and a $96,000 grant to the Garrett County Sanitary District for preliminary engineering and environmental reports related to planned upgrades at the Friendsville and Crellin wastewater treatment plants.
The funding comes through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Loans and Grants Program. The Maryland lawmakers helped secure $140 million for the program in the Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations package.
The projects are intended to replace aging infrastructure and support reliable water and wastewater service in rural Maryland communities.
