📻🎡 930 WFMD CELEBRATES 90 YEARS AT THE GREAT FREDERICK FAIR! 🎡📻
September 18–26, 2026
This year, two of Frederick County’s most enduring traditions come together for one unforgettable celebration!
930 WFMD is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2026, and we’re excited to spend this historic year with you at The Great Frederick Fair!
Since signing on the air in 1936 as Frederick County’s first radio station, WFMD has been more than a place on the radio dial. It has been a trusted friend, a source of information and a gathering place for generations of Frederick County families.
From the station’s early days of music and community entertainment to the unforgettable voices of Happy Johnny Zufall and Tommy Grunwell, WFMD has helped provide the soundtrack to life in Frederick County. Today, that tradition continues through local news, conversation, sports and community coverage featuring familiar personalities like “The Morning Mayor” Bob Miller, Pastor Tim May and the entire 930 WFMD team.
For nine decades, WFMD has been there for the moments that mattered—reporting the news, celebrating local accomplishments, covering elections, broadcasting local sports, sharing community stories and giving Frederick County a place to discuss the issues affecting our lives.
Now, we want to celebrate those 90 years with the people who made them possible: YOU—our listeners!

🌾 TWO FREDERICK TRADITIONS—ONE HISTORIC CELEBRATION!
The Great Frederick Fair traces its history to 1821, when the Frederick County Agricultural Society was established. The first Cattle Show and Fair was held in 1822, beginning a tradition that has grown into nine days of agriculture, livestock, exhibits, rides, food, entertainment and hometown fun.
For generations, The Great Frederick Fair has brought Frederick County together to celebrate its agricultural heritage and community spirit. WFMD has spent 90 years doing the same thing through the power of local radio.
That makes this the perfect place to celebrate where Frederick County has been—and look ahead to everything still to come!
