A large law enforcement search in the Buckeystown Pike area ended Thursday with an escaped Carroll County inmate back in custody.
Officials say Robert Andrew Bloom, who was incarcerated at the Carroll County Detention Center, was participating in court-ordered drug treatment at the Orenda facility in Frederick County. At about 3:30 Thursday afternoon, Carroll County deputies arrived to return Bloom to custody after he violated the terms of his treatment program.
Authorities say Bloom fled from the back of the facility and ran into a wooded area. Deputies later found his GPS ankle monitor, which had been cut off.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office established a perimeter and searched the area with drones, K-9 teams and a Maryland State Police helicopter. Deputies eventually located and arrested Bloom.
He is being returned to the Carroll County Detention Center to face a second-degree escape charge, and additional charges are pending in Frederick County
