A proposed deal involving a Frederick County data center developer has been rejected, and the county is extending its pause on new data center applications.
County Executive Jessica Fitzwater announced Monday she turned down Catellus Real Estate Development’s 110-million-dollar community benefits agreement after hearing concerns from residents.
The proposal included 30 million dollars each for Carroll Manor Elementary School renovations and a new Adamstown park, along with 14-point-5 million for workforce development and 10 million for youth recreation.
It also included one million dollars for a new Carroll Manor Fire Department engine.
Fitzwater’s moratorium, previously set to expire December 31st, will now remain in effect until July first, 2027.
