A Hampstead homeowner is accused of firing a shotgun after an argument with utility workers Wednesday morning, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. The incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. in the 5000 block of Black Rock, just west of Grace Road.
The sheriff’s office says the homeowner fired rounds into a wooded area that was not near the workers. No one was injured. The homeowner was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and charges are pending.
The sheriff’s office also said the incident was not related to the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project, which involved surveyors being escorted onto properties by U.S. marshals earlier this year.
The sheriff’s office said it could not confirm which utility was involved in the incident.
