An 87-year-old Frederick man is charged with murder after police found his roommate dead inside a home on Franklin Street.
Frederick Police say the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office contacted them Sunday after receiving information that Irwin Joseph Dickstein had reportedly told a witness he shot his roommate. Dickstein also reportedly provided the location where the shooting occurred. Frederick officers responded to the unit block of Franklin Street to conduct a welfare check.
The residence was unsecured, and officers entered and found 63-year-old Michael Roy Bushnell deceased inside. Investigators identified Dickstein as the suspect and located him at another location. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an appearance before a District Court commissioner.
Dickstein is charged with first- and second-degree murder. Police say investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
