A Frederick man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that killed a Poolesville man in Montgomery County.
Montgomery County detectives arrested 26-year-old Travis Lowe Monday in Frederick County. He’s charged with failing to return and remain at a collision involving death, along with related traffic charges.
Police say officers and EMS were called to Fisher Avenue and Milford Mill Road around 1:50 Sunday morning for a report of a pedestrian who had been struck.
The preliminary investigation found that 27-year-old Dakota Grimsby of Poolesville was hit by a vehicle in the 19-thousand block of Fisher Avenue. Investigators say the driver left the scene and continued westbound on Fisher Avenue.
Grimsby suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.
Detectives recovered vehicle debris at the scene indicating the vehicle may have been a 2020 through 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 or 3500 pickup truck.
Investigators distributed flyers throughout Poolesville, and a tip from a resident helped identify Lowe as a suspect. Detectives later found a white Chevrolet Silverado with front-end damage at a Frederick business and identified Lowe as the driver connected to the collision.
Lowe was arrested in Frederick County and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation, which police say could take several weeks or months to complete.
