A federal judge has sentenced a 76-year-old Hagerstown man to 138 months in prison for sexually exploiting children living in Ecuador.
William Alger pleaded guilty in March to federal charges involving the coercion and enticement of a child. According to court documents,
Alger used phones and online applications between November 2023 and December 2024 to persuade, induce and coerce three minors into sexual activity. The children, ages six to 16, lived in Ecuador, where Alger frequently traveled and eventually purchased land and built a residence. Court documents say he paid the victims’ mothers through Western Union to obtain sexually explicit images.
Alger will also serve lifetime supervised release. The case is part of Project Safe Childhood.
