A two-vehicle crash on Old National Pike near Oakdale School Road in New Market Monday morning resulted in multiple injuries and a medical helicopter response.
The crash was reported around 9:54 a.m., with one vehicle overturning. Three patients were reported, including one person who got out of the overturned vehicle without assistance.
Two occupants of the other vehicle were initially trapped but were freed by about 10:10 a.m.
A pediatric patient was classified as a Priority One patient, prompting a request for a medical helicopter. Crews established a landing zone at Monocacy Valley Church.
One patient was transported to Frederick Health Hospital, while another Priority Two patient was taken to Johns Hopkins. The pediatric patient was transported to the landing zone for air medical transport, and Trooper 3 was airborne toward Johns Hopkins by 10:37 a.m.
Route 144 was closed between Eaglehead Drive and Meadow Road during the emergency response.
