Montgomery County Police have arrested a 29-year-old Riverdale man in connection with a series of residential burglaries.
Anderson Javier Santacruz Gallegos is accused of targeting homes for jewelry and coins. Police say he would knock on the front door and, if no one answered, go to the back of the home and force his way inside.
Detectives linked him to four burglaries in July, August and September. On September 23, officers saw Gallegos allegedly force his way into a home on Enid Drive in Potomac and arrested him when he returned to his vehicle.
A 92-year-old resident was sleeping inside the home but was not injured.
Police searched Gallegos’ Riverdale residence and recovered suspected stolen property, including jewelry. Investigators have identified additional victims in Montgomery County and Howard County, and some property has already been returned.
Gallegos is being held without bond.
