Frederick County is receiving another round of state funding aimed at fighting child poverty. Governor Wes Moore announced Wednesday at Hill Street Park in Frederick that 32 million dollars will be distributed across 13 Maryland counties through the state’s ENOUGH initiative.
Frederick County is expected to receive about 450-thousand dollars during fiscal year 2027. Most of that money will go to community organizations serving neighborhoods around the Golden Mile, north and south of West Patrick Street and west of U.S. 15.
Local officials say the funding will support food services, youth enrichment and workforce development.
This is the third year of the ENOUGH program, and the largest funding round so far. Frederick County has now received more than 1-point-5 million dollars through the initiative.
Previous grants have funded nearly 1,100 vision screenings for Frederick County Public Schools students, with 360 students receiving prescription glasses. The funding also supported 98 market days at local schools, providing fresh fruits and vegetables from Maryland farms.
