The San Diego Padres have been one of the best teams in baseball since the All-Star Break. Their offense, full of big names and stars, has finally started hitting the ball and it has made all the difference. In their opening series against the Cubs they dominated on both the offensive and pitching side of the game.
This series will see if they can do it against another National League Central opponent, the Brewers. Tonight, they send Robbie Ray to the mound. He is a former Cy Young Award winner that the Padres acquired at the deadline for this type of game.
The Brewers have been the best team in baseball all season. They are the top-seeded team in either League and won 103 games. A combination of balanced hitting in their lineup, top pitching in their rotation, and a deep bullpen have them 11 wins from getting the franchise their first World Series victory.
Tonight they send out a guy who is likely to win his first Cy Young Award, Jacob Misiorowski. He was phenomenal this season with a 16-5 record, 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 252 strikeouts. The final three numbers are the top three in all of baseball. This will be a challenge for San Diego.
