In Game 1, the Brewers came in with the heavy upper hand. The Padres had already played two games and now had to travel, and their road record was slightly below .500 for the season at 40-41. The other part of the mix was the Brewers sending the best pitcher in baseball this season, Jacob Misirowoski, to the mound.
The Padres actually managed pretty well against Misirowski, forcing him out of the game after just four innings because he threw 88 pitches. Unfortunately for the Padres, he left with the game tied because Jackson Chourio hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the third. William Contreras homered in the 7th to give the Brewers a 3-2 lead, and eventually a win by the same score.
Game 2 was a doozy as well. Milwaukee was behind for the entire game. They gave up a run in the top of the first, and the Padres never relinquished the lead. However, the Brewers never gave up. In the fifth, when the Padres scored again, the Brewers put one up of their own in the bottom of the inning.
Then came the seventh, when both teams scored once again. Heading into the ninth, the Brewers were facing one of the best closers in baseball. However, Mason Miller’s control became erratic and he walked three hitters. Chourio singled with two strikes on him and scored two runners. Brewers 4, Padres 3.
