Pennsylvania’s ongoing measles outbreak has claimed another life, this time in Franklin County.
The county Coroner’s Office says a 39-year-old woman died after a weekend investigation, and her death meets the state’s definition of a measles-associated death. Officials say she had several underlying conditions and a previous measles diagnosis that had been treated. The death is the first measles-associated death reported in Franklin County in many years.
Statewide, Pennsylvania had 1,136 confirmed measles cases as of October ninth, including 219 hospitalizations and five other measles-associated deaths.
