A proactive investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in arrests following an online child exploitation operation.
During the first week of October, the department’s Digital Investigations and Forensics Unit worked with the Criminal Investigations Unit to target adults allegedly seeking sexual activity with minors and other prostitution-related offenses.
Undercover officers used several social media platforms to communicate with adults and arranged multiple online contacts and in-person meetings.
The operation resulted in the arrest of 41-year-old Robert Koontz of Hagerstown, who faces a solicitation of a minor charge. Koontz is being held at the county detention center.
Police also arrested 25-year-old Rebecca Hose on an outstanding warrant.
